Do you need a solid pole for a carport, fence line, retaining wall, or any other outdoor construction project? At Online Building, we supply machined, CCA H4-treated pine poles in Cape Town that are perfectly suited to a range of residential and commercial projects. Practical, reliable, and versatile, our Pine Poles in Cape Town are available in five lengths, ready for collection or delivery in the Western Cape.
CCA H4-Treated Pine Poles
All our pine poles are H4 treated, which is the CCA grade made for poles that go straight into the ground and remain there permanently. H4 is a hazard classification for timber used outdoors in in-ground contact, protecting it against moisture, insects and decay for years.
A lighter treatment like H3 is fine for wood that stays dry and off the ground, like fencing rails or roof framing. But if you bury H3-treated wood, it won’t last nearly as long, because it is not prepared for consistent contact with wet soil. That’s why every pole we stock, no exceptions, is treated to H4, so that it is ready for the ground from the moment it reaches a client. To understand timber treatments in more detail, read our guide to understanding CCA-treated pine grades.

What are Pine Poles Used For?
There are plenty of uses for pine poles in Cape Town. Here are some of the most common outdoor construction and landscaping projects our clients choose pine poles for:
Carports: Pine poles can form part of the support structure for a carport or any other covered outdoor space. The right pole size and spacing will depend on the specific design of the carport you’re building.
Fencing: This is probably the most common use of H4-treated pine poles in Cape Town. They make solid fence posts, since they are specifically built and prepared to handle being placed straight into the ground.
Pergolas: Pine poles work well to support pergola structures as well. Use H4-treated poles where posts come into direct contact with the ground, while the rest of the structure should be planned around its specific exposure and requirements for the best results.
Landscaping Projects: Depending on the design and environment, pine poles can be used in some landscaping projects and may even be suitable for retaining wall applications. Always be sure to understand the exact structural and environmental requirements of any project, to ensure appropriate timber, treatment level and installation method are used.
